“ Food is very good! Big fan of the empanadas a must try! Roast pork/Pernil is a favorite. Service didn't disappoint, staff was very polite. Ambiance is that of a comfortable neighborhood restaurant. I always recommend to friends. ”
“ Extremely friendly staff- server plating my orders, cashier packing my order, cook describing my order. The food is home cooked and locals come here. The chicken noodle soup was so yummy hot filling (Quart $5, Pint $5). Plenty of seating, nothing fancy and self service at the tables, bring your tray back style. Easy access on Route 21 as you're heading to Newark Airport. It's on McCarter Highway local street Route 21. Skip the McDonald next door and grab your lunch here. Some parking at the parking lot-can be full from Restaurant Equipment store next door. For an Asian woman observing, patrons are friendly as the staff. Definitely reminds me of where I grew up in the Lower East Side NYC. Yummy natural flavors home cooked meal and barely any MSG because I was not thirsting for water. Forgot one more thing: CASH only (no digital payments), dig for empty loose change in pockets and car for some extra bills...must try something. BBQ kebab stick $6 with rice is $10-$14. ”

“ The only good thing about driving to Newark International Airport via route 21 south is passing this place. Most days, you'll catch them smoking the BBQ outside, so it's hard to miss not only because of the sights, but also the smell. Inside, it's a hole in the wall, but you're fooling yourself if you expected anything more. Stick to the BBQ and you'll be just fine. Chicken and ribs and yellow rice. Mmm good. Fall off the bone good, and very well seasoned. Seems to be a cash only operation, which is no surprise, but super cheap. I got 4 ribs, 2 pieces of chicken and a whole lot of rice for about $8. ”

My quarter chicken was also grilled to perfection (not dry/overcooked at all like some of the other BBQ joints in the area). The real winner though the freaking collards. Lord o'mighty I haven't had collards that good except in my own house. Now true true Manny's doesn't have the most inspiring decor/ambience but f that I say... Go to one of those overpriced places in the Ironbound if you want to feel "bougy". More greens for me! ”
